As an experiment I have opened up a chat room for any one to be able to use. Although I imagine it will be a waste of time as most of the 300 people who have visited this site in the last week have had nothing to say and so won't want to chat anyway.
I am at a loss as to what else to ad to this site to try and stir up some interest.
What about advertising in The Beacon or some flyers or the odd poster or two in libraries/shops/bus station/garages/hotels. On your travels about just take note of where people leave flyers. I know it costs money to do such things, but I think it'll be worth it. Good luck. A Facebook page...? or do you already have one?
It's a shame it's not more poular as it's a nice looking site, more visually up-to-date than others!!

There have been a number of comments made about Northwood House, why it was gifted and to whom, and what its future holds, I would like to take this opportunity to clear up a few points and spell out the current situation. Firstly the house was gifted according to the original deed of gift to the Council for their benefit and the park was gifted along with the house for the enjoyment of the people.
The trust is in no way to blame for the current state of the house, they are still in the process of working through the legal wrangling and back tracking of the council and are due to take charge some time this year (all going well).
The problem has been over the years is mismanagement by the council, they can not be seen to pour such large amounts of public money into one building they don’t actually need, they do have a number of more modern and more suitable offices at their disposal. The property needs nearly £3million spending on it to carry out repairs and that is before any restoration work is done, and on top of that the building needs bringing up to modern standards with improved access, plumbing, electrics, heating, fire safety, so you are talking in the region of £10million to get the house useable let alone profitable. Even with the precept it would take them about 10 years to be in a position to begin the works needed, by this time that figure will be double, if there is still a house there to be

Well, well, well, after 26 or so years, we've finally got a decent covering of snow. But oh dear, it would seem that this is Armageddon as the Island has now come to a complete standstill.
Abandoned cars, fallen trees and apparently too much snow have brought the road network to it's knees. No buses running, all schools except East Cowes Primary are shut, Council run offices shut. What's going on?
Is this 2010 or 1810?

So St Mary's is having a lock down, due to stomach bug. Whatever happened to Matrons and other Hitler types that kept stomach bugs and the like out of our hospitals. At least when Matrons done their rounds, the hospitals were clean and no record of so called bugs occured.
What has this world come too?

Whether it's the jungle or the Big Brother house, how can they call it reality?
It doesn't seem to matter if the person is known or not, if a camera is shoved in their faces they become actors. In the case of celebs if they can get front page of the Sun paper they may help their poor flagging careers, where as Joe Public is out for the notorious 15 minutes of fame. Does this sort of thing really make for good television?

I've just read Councillor Pugh's Q&A with the County Press. Is he for real? Apparently there's no cash crisis, but a 2.5% increase in Council Tax is needed because everything is hunky dory!

Doesn't anyone have something to say about anything?
This is a good site and should be used.
Because it's early days the first few people get to decide how it develops.
Come on people let's give Ventnor Blog a run for it's money!
