When it comes to crime detection there's only one detective that can solve the case, Sherlock Holmes the quintessentially all British stiff upper lip, dear stalker hat wearing super sleuth, conjured up by the brilliant Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Sherlock has had many an airing through books, plays, TV series and of course films. For me Basil Rathbone the actor was Sherlock Holmes. He and Nigel Bruce, who played the Dr. Watson Role, starred in 14 black and white movies from 1939 to 1946. Although not strictly true to the books, Bruce's portrayal of Watson was as a bumbling old fool for example, they were great and became constant viewing when I was a kid and they were broadcast on BBC2.
In the Articles section, there's 4 audio books to listen to. They were recorded in the late 40's and mid 50's so the quality isn't brilliant, but are still enjoyable.
