Election 2010

As the General Election looms upon us, what are you hoping for?
What do you want your vote to achieve?

The way Government is run has not changed much since Cromwell's time. Once Charley boy was beheaded the system of Government we have today took hold. The only real difference between then and now is we are not only peasants to the Lords who have always been in charge, but also to Europe, who in their wisdom have demanded what shape our cucumbers should be and given us a health and safety regime that has increased the cost of everything we do.

Of course another thing different from the days of Cromwell is that we no-longer start civil wars when we believe we have been hard done by the powers that be. In fact we seem to lay back and take the increases in this tax or the cut in that service, in the hope that whoever is the next to be in charge will give us a better deal.

The Americans try desperately to govern their country by laws laid out in their constitution, hence why every youth knows how strip down and rebuild a 9mm Uzi at the age of 4, because the constitution says they have the right to 'bear arms'.

In this country however the constitution is a bit different, it's actually argued that we don't have one.
As it happens we do, but it isn't set in concrete and is changed on the fly by Parliament, known as submitting bills. The Lords then discuss the pro's and con's and if accepted by the majority who are still awake when the vote is taken then a new law is passed and the solicitors bung on another £50 to their charges for being in the know.

The Lord's role was not created by the democratic vote of  the people, they were the original 1% that own 70% of the land in the UK and because they had money and clout self appointed themselves. Of course there was bickering within this boys club and some were voted off to be replaced by others. When they died the title and role was, and still is today,  handed down to the next generation.

The Ministers of Parliament (MPs) are the Lords eyes and ears. They're the boys and girls taking the flack from us unruly peasants. They're basically salespeople, if Cromwell had had an army of these the second civil war may not of happened.

So what for the future?

Much the same as it has been for the last 4 decades, increased taxation, more borrowing followed by increased taxation. The spiral will never end unless the system changes and the system will not change until we the peasants change it.
